The Jelgava Big Band was formed in 1991. The band consists of jazz musicians with different experience (amateurs, professionals). All of those years Big Band took part in all kinds of jazz music concerts and private parties around the world.
The number of people on stage varies from small jazz group to full band. Big Band have huge song program (form classic jazz to pop music).

Big Band works with many Latvian solo players, for example Raimonds Pauls, Pits Andersons, Laimis Racenajs , Olga Pirags, Inga Berzina, Ance Krauze, Marija Naumova, Linda Leen, Normunds Rutulis, Intars Busulis, Viesturs Jansons, Nick Gotham, Shady Brass Quartet, violin player Raimonds Ozols and others. Concert with legendary singer Freddy Quinn from Germany was taped for television in 2002.

Seven years in a row Big Band played as a guest at the Saulkrasti Jazz Festival. In those festivals Big Band works with such well known solo players from around the world as Michael Kuettner, Vladimir Solyanik, Steve Washington, Matthew Garrison, Wolfgang Haffner, Enver Izmailov, Chriss Mcdermott, Krzysztof Zawadzki, Stewe Logan, Miklos Birta, Vladimir Ugolnikov, Tina Palmer, Cecil Verny.

Big Band has been performing in many different countries all over the world. They have also taken part and had success in many competitions.
