FREEDOMS TRIO

FREEDOMS TRIO

Freedoms Trio involves three musicians from each their country where all three possess a sparkling musicality and are marvellous soloists, composers and singers. Individuals of nationalities one would
imagine had little in common here unite in a brotherly manner through music, language and culture.

Guitarist Steinar Aadnekvam has in the last decade made a name for himsel internationally as an unusually talented player. He is deeply rooted in both jazz and world music and is one of few young guitarists who plays modern jazz on the acoustic nylon guitar. At home in Norway he made his breakthrough in 2010 after a concert at the Mode Jazzfestival and the debutalbum ‘Simple Things’ that led to festival  concerts throughout northern Europe. But – it is for his close collaborations with the northeastern Brazilian music scene that Aadnekvam has made himself most noted after several albums and major touring projects both in the Nordics and in Brazil in collaboration with Brazilian colleagues. In 2015 Aadnekvam releases his fourth album – Freedoms Tree – in collaboration with the respected Norwegian label  Losen Records.

Drummer and singer Deodato Siquir is third generation musician from Maputo – Mozambique. Living in Sweden since 2001 he represents some of the best in Afro-Jazz in the Nordics. He has collaborated with musicians like Etienne Mbappé, Linley Marthe even Joe Zawinul. Deodato Siquir is a showman to his fingertips and on stage audience will meet him at the deep end of his soul creating a concert where you don’t want to miss a second.

Bassist Rubem Farias was born in 1986 in the favela in Salvador in the Brazilian state of Bahia but it was soon evident that the young boy possessed an unusual musical talent. Only 13 years old he was  admitted as a student at the music conservatory of Sao Paulo where he would study with some of the best teachers in the country and today Rubem Farias is one of the most sought-after young instrumentalists in Brazil.
